Day 1
Arrival in Kochi and Drive to Alleppey — Welcome to Kerala, God's Own Country! On arrival at Kochi International Airport, our friendly representative will greet you with a traditional Kerala welcome and drive you to Alleppey (approximately 2 hours), famously known as the "Venice of the East." Alleppey is the undisputed heart of Kerala's backwaters, a labyrinth of canals, lakes, and lagoons that stretch for over 900 kilometres. Check into your heritage resort overlooking the serene Vembanad Lake, the longest lake in India. After a refreshing welcome drink, spend the afternoon relaxing by the pool or taking a leisurely walk through the village. In the evening, walk to the lakeside and witness a spectacular sunset painting the sky in shades of orange and pink. Dinner will be served at the resort featuring authentic Kerala cuisine like karimeen pollichathu, appam and stew. Overnight stay at the heritage resort in Alleppey. Day 2: Houseboat Cruise in Alleppey — After a delicious Kerala breakfast featuring appam and stew, board your traditional houseboat (kettuvallam) around noon. These houseboats, once used to transport rice and spices, have been beautifully converted into floating boutique hotels with bedrooms, a sun deck, and a kitchen. As the boat glides slowly through the narrow canals and vast backwaters, you will witness a unique slice of rural Kerala life — fishermen casting nets, women washing clothes on the banks, ducks swimming in formation, and children playing cricket on narrow strips of land. A freshly cooked Kerala lunch featuring karimeen fish, sambar, and avial will be served on board. As the sun sets, the houseboat anchors for the night at a peaceful spot. Enjoy the brilliant stars from the deck and fall asleep to the gentle lapping of the water. Overnight stay on the houseboat. Day 3: Kumarakom and Village Tour — Wake up to the gentle morning sun and aroma of fresh coffee. After breakfast on the houseboat, disembark at Kumarakom, a charming village on the banks of Vembanad Lake. Visit the famous Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, spread over 14 acres of mangrove forests and home to migratory birds like the Siberian crane, egret, heron, and teal. Later, enjoy a guided walk through a typical Kerala village — see how coir is made from coconut husk, witness toddy tapping from the crown of the coconut palm, and meet local artisans. In the afternoon, try a traditional Kerala sadya meal served on a banana leaf — a feast of rice, sambar, rasam, avial, thoran, pickles, and payasam. Spend the evening at leisure. Overnight stay in Kumarakom. Day 4: Ayurveda Spa and Sunset Canoe Ride — After a relaxed morning, enjoy a complimentary 60-minute Ayurveda massage at your resort — a centuries-old healing therapy that uses herbal oils to rejuvenate body and mind. In the evening, take a traditional canoe ride through the smaller canals of Kuttanad, known as the "Rice Bowl of Kerala," where the waterways are so narrow that only canoes can pass through. Watch the sunset paint the sky in shades of gold and orange while gliding past paddy fields that lie below sea level. Enjoy a romantic candlelight dinner at the resort featuring fresh seafood. Overnight stay in Kumarakom. Day 5: Departure from Kochi — After a leisurely breakfast, check out and drive back to Kochi. If time permits, visit Fort Kochi and see the famous Chinese fishing nets, St. Francis Church (the oldest European church in India), and Mattancherry Palace with its stunning murals. Walk through Jew Town and the spice markets that once made Kochi a global trading hub. Transfer to Kochi airport or railway station for your onward journey, carrying with you a treasure trove of memories from God's Own Country.
